Inside the Photo Booth Activation at Queens Harbour Deep Sea Series 1 in Toronto
When Queens Harbour launched Deep Sea Series 1 on July 9, they weren't running a nightclub event or a dinner party. They were creating an immersive world, international DJs, all-inclusive food and drink, live tuna carving ceremonies, a Moët champagne lounge with caviar service, and a strictly enforced dress code that set the tone the moment guests arrived at 245 Queens Quay West.
An event built at that level of intention needs activations that match it. A generic photo booth in the corner wouldn't have worked. So it wasn't one.
Here's how we built a photo booth experience that fit inside one of Toronto's most talked-about event debuts, and why 300 photos were taken across 450 guests in a single night.
The Event: Queens Harbour Deep Sea Series 1
Queens Harbour is a 23,000 square foot Mediterranean-Asian fusion restaurant on Toronto's waterfront with a retractable roof that made waves when it opened. Deep Sea is their new ticketed event series, immersive, all-inclusive, and music-forward, designed as what co-owner Ali Badreddine described to Toronto Life as a 'more elevated alternative to conventional nightlife.'
Series 1 drew approximately 450 guests through tiered ticketing starting at $200. The production included multi-sensory lighting, international DJ performances, and food and beverage stations running all night across Queens Garden, the venue's open-air terrace. Every element was curated. Every detail was considered.
Our enclosed photo booth had to belong in that environment, not just occupy space in it.
The Setup: Full Brand Integration From Curtain to Print
External display screen on the photo booth featuring Queens Harbour’s branded video
We brought our enclosed photo booth rental to Queens Harbour with a complete custom build around the Deep Sea identity.
The exterior of the booth was wrapped in Queens Harbour's Deep Sea artwork, the same visual identity running through the rest of the event's production. Guests didn't encounter a generic white booth. They encountered something that looked like it was built for the night.
Inside, the experience was equally integrated:
The start screen was custom branded with the Queens Harbour Deep Sea identity, setting the tone before a single photo was taken
The external display screen looped a Queens Harbour brand video throughout the night, giving the booth a presence even when no one was inside it
Every print came out on a custom Deep Sea template, a branded keepsake that matched the visual language of the event
The digital sharing landing page was custom built for the activation, with a direct callout for guests to follow and tag Queens Harbour on Instagram, turning every digital delivery into a social media prompt
Guests chose their own filter, black and white or full colour, giving each photo a personal touch within the branded framework
From the moment someone approached the booth to the moment they received their digital photo, every touchpoint was Queens Harbour.
The Guest Experience: When the Booth Becomes the Content
At most events, guests use a photo booth and move on. At Deep Sea Series 1, the booth became part of the content guests were creating about the night.
People came in couples and groups. They spent time choosing their filter. They took photos of themselves stepping in, coming out, and posing beside the wrap. They filmed videos of the experience and shared them alongside everything else they were capturing from the night.
This matters because it signals something specific: the booth felt worth documenting. At a $200+ ticket event with an enforced dress code and international DJ lineups, guests don't stop to take content about things that don't belong. The booth earned its place.
The organic social content guests created around the booth extended the Queens Harbour Deep Sea brand beyond the walls of the venue, without any additional effort from the event team.
The Results: 300 Photos Across 450 Guests
Over the course of the evening, 300 photos were taken. With approximately 450 guests in attendance, that's a 67 percent participation rate at a premium event where people had no shortage of other things to do.
At an all-inclusive experience featuring live tuna ceremonies, a cigar station with Rémy Martin XO, and DJ performances from international acts making their Canadian debut, holding guest attention long enough to take a photo is not a given. The participation rate reflects how well the activation was integrated into the overall experience, it felt like part of the night, not a distraction from it.
The branded digital sharing page ensured every guest who received their photo digitally also received a prompt to engage with Queens Harbour on Instagram, extending the activation's reach into the days following the event.
What Makes a Photo Booth Work at This Level of Event
The difference between a photo booth that gets ignored and one that generates 300 sessions at a 450-person luxury event comes down to integration. Here's what drove the outcome at Deep Sea Series 1:
The wrap matched the event's visual identity - guests encountered something that belonged in the space, not something dropped into it
Every touchpoint was branded end to end - start screen, print template, digital delivery, and external display all spoke the same visual language
The filter choice gave guests creative input - participation increases when people feel they have some ownership of the output
The digital sharing landing page gave the activation a life beyond the event - every share was a branded impression Queens Harbour didn't have to pay for separately
The booth looked like content, guests filmed it and posed with it because it was worth filming
A photo booth activation at this level isn't a rental. It's a production element, built around the event's identity from the outside of the booth to the notification that lands in a guest's phone at the end of the night.
